About PLATTinum Consulting

Q: Who founded PLATTinum Consulting?

A: PLATTinum Consulting was founded in 2018 by Rachel Platt, a former Chief Human Resources Officer with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations move beyond compliance and into People Strategy that aligns your team with your mission and business goals. Rachel has lived through eight M&A transactions, led global teams, and now advises nonprofits, professional services firms and other B2B organizations across the U.S.
Q: Who are PLATTinum's clients?
A: We partner with purpose-driven companies and nonprofits. These organizations often share a common challenge. They rely heavily on talented people, strong relationships, trust, and judgment. Our sweet spot is organizations with 30 to 300 employees that are navigating growth, leadership transition, M&A, or culture change. We serve clients across the US.
Q: What makes PLATTinum different?
A: We combine deep human resources expertise with strategic thought partnership. Most HR consultants only focus on daily HR operations and compliance. We develop practical processes that align leadership and people practices with your business strategy. We guide leaders to build a culture that attracts talent, develops future leaders, and improves retention - all of which are proven to be the foundation of more successful and profitable organizations. Our focus is on People Strategy.

Our Services

Q: What services does PLATTinum Consulting provide?
A: Our services focus on People Strategy. This includes:
  • Organizational Health Mirror Scans (people practices audit)
  • Fractional Chief Human Resources Officer / Chief People Officer
  • Leadership development and succession planning
  • HR Advisory and program development
  • Talent assessment and competency models
  • Workforce planning
  • Cultural & HR due diligence and communications during mergers & acquisitions
  • Customized organizational design, talent management and org effectiveness
  • Coaching for existing HR team

Q: What is People Strategy, and why does it matter?
A: People Strategy is the alignment of your human resources practices with your mission and business goals. According to McKinsey & Company, organizations that prioritize people and culture are 2.5 times more likely to outperform peers financially. Strong culture, leadership and HR ensures your talent grows with the organization.
Q: What size organizations benefit most?
A: Organizations with enough scale to need holistic HR systems but without large HR departments. Typically, B2B businesses or nonprofit organizations with 30-300 employees and $5-50M in revenue see significant benefits.
Q: We have a small HR team. How would a relationship with PLATTinum work?
A: We don’t replace your HR team, we strengthen it. For many organizations, the HR staff are stretched thin, and their bandwidth is commonly filled with payroll, benefits, and compliance. PLATTinum partners with them by adding strategic capacity, frameworks, and tools. We help with leadership development, succession planning, and culture work so your HR team can stay focused on day-to-day priorities. Think of us as an extension of your team, giving them support and providing business and HR leadership a strategic thought partner.
Q: What is a fractional Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) or Chief People Officer (CPO)?
A: A fractional CHRO/CPO is a senior HR executive who works with your organization on a part-time or limited-timeframe basis. You get executive-level people strategy and thought-partnership without hiring a full-time leader.
The right fractional CHRO/CPO helps you connect your talent, culture, leadership, and structure to your business or mission goals. This is especially helpful when your organization has outgrown informal people practices, but does not yet need, or is not ready for, a full-time HR executive.
Q: When should a nonprofit or professional services firm hire a fractional CHRO/CPO?
A: Consider hiring a fractional CHRO when the organization is growing, changing, or facing people challenges that require more than basic compliance and day-to-day support.
Common signs include:
  • Your team has reached 30+ employees and old ways of working are no longer effective or efficient.
  • Managers are inconsistent in how they lead, give feedback, or make talent decisions.
  • You have retention concerns, morale issues, or unclear career paths and no time or in-house expertise to get the required results.
  • Your executive director or CEO spends too much time untangling people issues.
  • You need stronger leadership, clearer structure, and better talent systems.
A fractional CHRO helps you build the people infrastructure needed for the organization you are becoming, not only the one you used to be.
Q: How does fractional CHRO/CPO support differ from HR advisory?
A: HR advisory consulting often focuses on a specific project, problem, or deliverable. For example, succession planning, redesigning a performance review process, or planning for a reorganization. Fractional support is broader and more embedded. It gives your leadership team access to senior-level HR strategy over time. A fractional CHRO helps you answer questions like:
  • Do we have the right structure for our next stage of growth?
  • Are our managers equipped to lead well?
  • Are we developing future leaders?
  • Are our people practices helping or hurting retention?
  • Are we making talent decisions with enough clarity and consistency?
Think of HR consulting as targeted expertise. Think of fractional support as ongoing strategic partnership.

Our Approach
Q: What is it like to work with PLATTinum Consulting?
A. PLATTinum partners with clients to maintain a transparent, ongoing, open dialogue. We are advisors, alleviating pressure while equipping leaders with strategic insights and actionable solutions. Our approach is data-driven, responsive and organized – and just as important, we are proactive, optimistic, approachable and occasionally funny. We place outcomes before egos and collaborate with clients who share similar values.
Q: What is the People Strategy Mirror Scan?
A: The People Strategy Mirror is our framework that reflects both strengths and risks across leadership, culture, and HR practices. It gives leaders a clear view of what supports their mission and what needs attention.
Q: What are PLATTinum Pointers?
A: PLATTinum Pointers are bite-sized pieces of advice we share to help leaders act quickly and effectively. They turn big ideas into small, practical steps.

Working Together
Q: How do organizations start working with PLATTinum?
A: Many start with an Organizational Health Mirror Scan. This identifies opportunities and risks, which we then prioritize to create customized solutions. From there, we design projects or retainer partnerships.
Q: What does a typical engagement look like?
A: There is no "typical" because each organization is unique. It depends on their goals. Short-term projects might run 8–12 weeks and focus on one area, like building a competency model. Retainers provide ongoing support offering continuity and strategic partnership.
Q: How do clients schedule an initial conversation?
A: You can schedule a no-obligation, free, discovery call directly from our website or email us. If you have an urgent matter, we will always find a way to make a call happen!
