The Talent Isn't The Problem.
 
Q: We are struggling with hiring the talent we need be successful. We posted a job a week ago and received over 600 resumes for a midlevel position. A quick look shows that more than 70% have no relevant experience and it's tough to even find transferrable skills that might help us consider a broader range of candidates. Why is that? I know there are a lot of talented people in the market right now. This seems ridiculous.
 
Many job postings describe tasks the people perform and tools they are expected to use, instead of the outcomes the people must achieve. Algorithms then push the job posting to anyone with even a partial match on keywords. People with adjacent transferrable skills are often filtered out. And yet the volume of applicants remains.
